Town of Komiža

Komiža – an old fishing town with a long tourist tradition is situated in a bay on the northwest side of the island Vis. It is included in a list of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) as one of the 10 most recent heavenly oases in the Mediterranean. A small town with big-hearted people who will gladly sit next to you on a dock and share stories of their rich cultural heritage. If you’re tired of civilization and hectic lifestyle, Komiža will provide you with the vacation of your dreams. While walking the stone streets of old town, the smells of grilled fish and herbs will delight you. What not to miss while staying in Komiža:
  • Trip to Biševo and a visit to The Blue Grotto
  • Trips to many beaches and bays of the island Vis which can be reached by boat and by car
  • St. Nicholas Day, the protector of Komiža, celebrated on December 6. Take part in the ceremony of the burning of old ships in front of ”Muster”- a 13th century monastery.
  • Fisherman’s night – a festivity of fishermen on the docks with plenty of wine, grilled fish and fish specialties (1st Saturday of August).
  • Rural households which offer authentic local products.
  • Komiža specialties and fresh fish in one of the many restaurants and taverns.
